Spanish Dance Flamenco Singapore Guitar, Song

Grab a drink with us at Kith Cafe Marina Square (Sat 18 May, 9-10pm). Chat with guitarist Adien about playing across genres of flamenco, jazz, blues, bossa, rock and the Indonesian music scene.

Get to meet Terry, of The Guitar Gallery, wonderful supporter of the scene. Try out his array of guitars when you visit. We always end up playing or singing at his shop, one of the spontaneous places in Singapore. Meet some of the players and budding ones attending the guitar class, or bring a pal, gather and chill! (This is not a playing session, but a social gathering)

Song, rhythms and guitar classes (18 May)

6pm: Song

Learn the Tangos letra Gitana si me quisieras (Gypsy girl if you loved me) and Triana, Triana qué bonita está Triana. Dancers and guitarists, these are super useful letras (lyrics) to learn, as you’ll be encountering them along your journey. Also, this is a preparation for our master workshop by the Academia de Manuel Betanzos (Seville), this 3 – 7 July!

7pm: Learn Bulerias Rhythm

We’ll learn the Bulerias. This is the fastest of the flamenco 12-beat rhythms. Visuals are provided (the flamenco clock) to help students understand to clap/play/dance the accents. Suitable for non-flamenco participants keen on understanding different forms of rhythms in music.

8pm: Intro to Flamenco Guitar

An intro for guitarists learning to pick up flamenco techniques, and applying it to other genres they already play, jazz, bossa etc. Day 1, we experimented playing ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ with a flamenco groove! What’ll we try out on Day 2?
