When I first started to learn the Sevillanas in my youthful university days, I mostly danced to songs that were fast-paced. Afterall, the Sevillanas is the dance that is danced at the largest party in Sevilla, the Feria de Abril (April Fair). These recent weeks have been filled with much inspiration watching the great flamenco maestro Manuel Betanzos teach at the workshops of the prestigious Festival de Jerez in Southern Spain.
Two full-house workshops featured his beautiful and vibrant choreographies of the Caracoles and the Bamberas, accompanied by an amazing singer, Manuel Soto and an equally amazing guitarist, Javier Ibañez.
