MANUEL BETANZOS – Singapore Flamenco Master Workshop 2025

Hola my friend,

When I think of a maestro who gets involved in our personal growth, and cares deeply about HOW we dance, I think of Manuel Betanzos from Sevilla.

The HALLMARK of a Betanzos flamenco workshop? PERSONALISED teaching. Not generalised teaching, he sees YOU as an individual.

Someone who sees you have inside and strives to bring out you potential and flamenco uniqueness!

By doing so, he grows our capacity, beyond comfort zones (yes) and to new milestones (óle!).

It’s always with great honor to have this charismatic maestro from Sevilla, back to Singapore for our annual training.

Learn to train the way we do in Spain – consecutive days of focus, for concentration and consolidation.

Please be welcome to chat to discuss which workshop will suit you.

Abrazos,

Tania Goh

FLAMENCO WORKSHOP SCHEDULE & FEES

Workshop Highlights

  1. Get a FULL choreography in FIVE consecutive days of focus.
  2. This choreography was debuted at the Festival de Jerez 2024. (Now you can get it in Singapore – for less than the price of a plane ticket! 😀 )
  3. Did you know the Zorongo can be danced in different rhythms such as the Bulerías por Solea (12-beat) and the Tangos? Come experience this!
  4. Falsetas – What are flamenco falsetas? They are the instrumental part of a dance, played by the guitarist. I love falsetas as they tend to be very lyrical, present ideal moments in our dance for body work. This year, we’ll focus on the Falseta of the Tango de Málaga. The material can also be adapted for the palos of Farruca, Garrotin, Tientos & Tarantos. Understand that you can be versatile and give each of them their ‘clima’ mood & style.
  5. This choreography will be fielded in an Open Call project this November.

HOW TO FULLY DANCE, WITH ATTITUDE – INSPIRATION FROM THE FLAMENCO ZORONGO

Have you been dancing flamenco for years but still feel your dance isn’t quite flamenco enough

You’re not alone—most flamenco students experience this.

The key is understanding why and, more importantly, how you can work towards that flamenco character.

In this video, watch how Manuel Betanzos teaches & demonstrates:

  • A ‘remate’ in Zorongo (por Tangos), dancing fully and with attitude
  • Footwork technique for the remate
  • A flamenco turn with lots of character
  • The feeling of a movement and its musicality

At the upcoming workshop in Singapore, get Manuel’s tips personally tailored FOR you, so that you understand that it is HOW you dance that matters.

ZORONGO VIDEO – CATCH THE ACTION SPAIN’S FESTIVAL DE JEREZ TO SINGAPORE (May 2025)

  • Premiered at the Festival de Jerez workshops in 2023, the Zorongo is one of Manuel’s newest choreographies, and you can get the FULL DANCE in one intense week in Singapore.
  • In this video, get an impression of the beautiful choreography, how Manuel teaches and demonstrates the details.
  • You can also get tips from him to understand how to dance to flamenco cante and guitarra. Not many explain this aspect of flamenco, yet it is so crucial for students who want to seriously learn flamenco.
  • Flamenco music for practise and performance did you know we also have an original music recording for this Zorongo dance? It’s an evocative piece played by guitarist, Javier Ibáñez and cantaor, Manu Soto. Some of you might remember them as they came to accompany Manuel’s workshop in Singapore before.
